Retired footballer David Beckham recently revealed that he was forced to masturbate in front of his teammates as part of his initiation into Manchester United's youth team in 1991.

Beckham, who opened up about the incident in a documentary titled The Class of ’92, said the incident happened when he was just 16 years old. He said he was forced to stare at a calendar photo of eighties Reds soccer player Clayton Blackmore (pictured right) and pleasure himself, while his teammate watched, as part of an embarrassing hazing ritual.

Angola denies reports on banning Islam, declaiming previous reports

Angola's government has denied it had banned Islam and closed mosques in the country, after media speculation that sparked outrage among Muslims worldwide.

"There is no war in Angola against Islam or any other religion," said Manuel Fernando, director of the National Institute for Religious Affairs, part of the ministry of culture,  onTuesday.

"There is no official position that targets the destruction or closure of places of worship, whichever they are." Fernando told AFP news agency. Continue after the cut.....

Unusual ice circle forms in North Dakota river (watch video too)

When George Loegering saw a large spinning circle of ice in the Sheyenne River while out hunting with relatives, the retired engineer couldn't believe his eyes.

"At first I thought, no way! It was surreal," Loegering, 73, said Tuesday of the large ice disk he witnessed Saturday. "You looked at it and you thought, how did it do that?"

Then his engineering background kicked in. He calculated the disk's diameter to be about 55 feet, took photos and videos of it and then turned to the Internet for more information about what he, his brother-in-law and nephew had seen. Continue after the cut.......

Samsung pops out yet another new smartphone, the Galaxy Grand 2

In what seems like its 1,457th new smartphone release this year, Samsung has announced the Galaxy Grand 2, a new device that is sized somewhere in between its Galaxy S4 flagship smartphone and its Galaxy Note 3 flagship phablet.

The new device features a 5.25-inch display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, a quad-core 1.2GHz processor, an 8 megapixel camera, 1.5GB of RAM, a 2,600mAh battery and Android 4.3 Jelly Bean.

Samsung didn’t mention pricing or availability for the device but given its less-than-cutting-edge specs we can assume that it will targeted more as a mid-range device in emerging markets.

Sinkhole swallows up pond in Bosnian village

Residents of the Bosnian village of Sanica have been left shocked after a sinkhole swallowed up their village pond overnight.

The pond was about 20 metres in wide and eight metres deep, but the sinkhole - which villagers are calling the "abyss," - is around 50 metres wide and 30 metres deep and still growing.

UNBELIVEABLE! Zimbabwe outlaws Nigerians from trading in their country

 

According to news reports, starting from January next year, Nigerians trading in Zimbabwe will no longer be allowed to. Zimbabwean authorities said they have given foreign shop-owners, mostly Chinese and Nigerian nationals, an ultimatum to shut down their businesses by January. 1, 2014.

A top official of the black empowerment ministry said only Zimbabweans had the right to run shops that have sprung up across the country and are termed foreign businesses targeted under the nation’s black empowerment laws, the state-controlled Herald newspaper reportedFriday.

Those laws, passed in 2007, demand foreign businesses to cede 51 percent control to local blacks. The foreign shop owners have been criticized for taking retail trade opportunities from Zimbabwean traders by selling cheap imports.

Poor townships and city flea markets have in recent years been inundated by shops run by foreigners. According to state media, shop owners who fail to comply will be arrested

Update on ASUU strike; striking lecturers want four month salary

The leadership of the Academic Staff Union of University, ASUU, has said that the 4month old strike would only be called off if the federal government pays them their four month salary arrears since the inception of the strike as well as the full implementation of the N1.2trillion federal govt proposed funding for public universities with the immediate release of N100billion this year. The remaining N1.1trillion would be spread for 5 years.

They made this resolution after their Friday November 23rd National Executive Council meeting held in Kano state. A meeting between them and President Jonathan is been called for by the association before they can call off the strike.
