The photo of Kim and Kanye West kissing on their wedding day has broken instagram's record for the picture with the highest likes, 1.93 million and counting.

The record was previously held by Justin Beiber & Selena Gomez's intimate photo with 1.82 million likes.

Update! Boko Haram Attack On Emirs: One Dies, The Other Escaped

There were reports earlier today that two prominent Borno State Emirs, the Emir of Gwoza, Alhaji Idrissa Timta (pictured right) and Emir of Uba Alhaji Ali Ibn Ismaila Mamza (pictured left) were kidnapped by Boko Haram men while on their way to Gombe to attend the burial of Emir of Gombe, Shehu Abubakar.

According to Daily Trust, one of the Emirs, Alhaji Idrissa Timta has died. Security sources said he died of heart attack while fleeing into the bush after gunmen attacked his convoy and fired several shots which forced it to stop.

 

“Already, arrangement is being made to bring his corpse to Gwoza from Shafa. His corpse was found in the bush,” a source said.

 

The Emir of Uba, Alhaji Ali Ibn Ismaila Mamza, who is younger, escaped while many of the people in their entourage have been reportedly abducted by the attackers.

 

It was gathered that most of the vehicles in the convoy have been set ablaze.

Boko Haram Kidnaps Two Prominent Emirs In Borno State

According to report by Premium Times, Boko Haram men this morning kidnapped 2 first class traditional rulers in Borno State - the Emir of Uba, Ismaila Mamza and the Emir of Gwoza, Idrisa Timta.

According to security officials who spoke with Premium Times, the emirs were seized by the gunmen around 10a.m today Friday May 30th near Shaffa while they were traveling to Gombe to attend the funeral of the Emir of Gombe, Shehu Abubakar, who died on Tuesday May 27th. (pictured above)

The Borno state government is yet to issue an official statement on the abduction.

Father Flog 16-year Old Son To Death Over N1,200 Theft In Lagos

Lagos police authorities have arrested a man for allegedly beating his son to death with a belt for stealing N1,200.

According to Punch, the man, Benson, received reports from residents in the area that his son, Bright, had stolen the money from them. Benson was enraged when he found the stolen N1,200 in his son’s pocket and proceeded to beat his son brutally. Bright had reportedly been ill before the beating, and so a combination of the illness and the severe beating led to his death.

“My father was very angry on discovering the money in Bright’s pocket. He returned the money to the owners, and after they left, tied Bright’s hands with a rope. He then began to beat him with the iron end of his belt,” said Benson’s second son, Samuel.

Bright’s body has been deposited at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital Ikeja mortuary for autopsy. The case is now being probed by the State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba.

Chibok Boy Confesses To Razing Houses In Borno Village For N2,000

A young Chibok boy named Ibrahim Tilitili has confessed to razing a few houses in his small village in Mandara Girau village in Biu LGA of Borno state, Vanguard reports. Ibrahim later claimed a man named Mallam Sani, also a resident of the village, gave him N2,000 to carry out the arson.

Ibrahim had set three houses ablaze, had caused serious panic and was getting ready to destroy more homes when some brave villagers apprehended him when they realized it was a lone attack.

The youths had wanted to lynch the young boy when elders in the village intervened and he was instead arrested and taken to Sarkin Baka- renown hunter in Biu town, where he confessed to being instructed to set the houses ablaze. He then led the vigilante in the area to the man who claimed asked him to do it. Both were arrested and handed over to police in Biu town.

Nigerian Student In South Africa Found Dead In Her Hostel Room

Nigerian student Naizi Evah, (pictured above) a third year Computer Systems Engineering student of Vaal University of Technology, South Africa was found dead on Saturday May 2014 in her hostel room, this is according to her friends who are trying to get the media involved in the case.

One of her friends who reached out to me said prior to her death, Naizi had been in an abusive relationship with a Zimbabwean student, who also studies in same school with her, studying same course. The unidentified man was arrested by police in connection with Naizi's death but was bailed two days after police said they couldn't find any substantial evidence linking him to her death.

Her friends say the boyfriend had been emotionally and physically abusive towards Naizi, beat her severally and even threatened to kill. They say Naizi got tired of the abuse and broke things off with the man and told close friends she was done with him but he kept on trying to get her back.

Deeper Life Pastor, Eric Abakporo, Sentenced To 6yrs For Real Estate Fraud

A former Brooklyn-based civil attorney, and Pastor of the Deeper Life Bible Church, Ifeanyichukwu Eric Abakporo, was yesterday May 28th in federal court in New York sentenced to six years in a United States prison in a case of defrauding banks, mortgage lenders, property owners, and property buyers.

Mr. Abakporo was immediately remanded into custody by presiding U.S. District Court Judge, Shira A. Scheindlin. His wife and two children wept openly in the courtroom as he was led away in handcuffs. In addition to the six-year mandatory sentence, Abakporo will more than likely face deportation to Nigeria after serving his sentence, with the likelihood of a three-year supervisory probation release waved.

His co-defendant, Latanya Pierce, received a lighter, 30-month sentence.  In her closing statement, Pierce said she felt like the “biggest fool in the world.”

President Jonathan: There Are Plans To Bring Down My Govt

Speaking during the 2014 Democracy Day Interdenominational Church Service in Abuja yesterday Sunday May 25th, president Jonathan said there are evil people that are trying to bring down his government and they are the ones behind the violence in Nigeria, Punch reports.

"You can imagine if this government had not been facing these distractions within this period, definitely, we would have moved farther than this. All these distractions are planned to bring this government down and since they failed, terror will also fail.

So,an experiment was carried out by Mankind Initiative in support of #ViolenceisViolence campaign .Hidden cameras filmed a man pretending he was beating up his girlfriend .This was done to see the reaction of passers-by's. They intervened ,heavily criticising him..Majority were women who were so angry,threatening to call the police, others told her to leave him because she deserved better..

Then, the tables were turned and the lady was beating the man. No one intervened and passers-by just laughed,finding it funny a man was being attacked..Women didn't say a word.Just like Beyonce did in the elevator.Note, the passer-by's didn't know they were being filmed.

That raises the question,why is it allowed for a woman to hit a man and go free why a man can't do same.....

Flavour is now a music superstar, but a few years before he shot into limelight, it wasn’t rosy.

In an interview with Hip Hop World Magazine, the “Ada Ada” crooner speaks on leaving Enugu for Lagos.

“In Enugu at that time, I was coming out big, and Enugu is a small city where everyone knows each other. So everyone knew the guy Flavour, and it was so nice and cozy, but the money was not coming. It was all about the girls because there are many universities here in Enugu so there were many babes (laughs) and wherever you went, you would see them.

And they liked me so much so I was feeling myself, feeling what I was doing. I felt that with the love I got from ladies here I could do anything – go to any club. Things were just so easy for me and I began to feel like a star, but I noticed that I wasn’t making money, and I wasn’t pushing myself. I had no competition so I forgot about my dream to push myself across borders due to the distraction I got mostly from women and then life in Enugu.

Boko Haram Kill Over 34 Persons In Fresh Three Separate Attacks In Borno

Over 34 persons were killed yesterday, Thursday, 22nd May, in three separate Boko Haram attacks in Borno State villages, SaharaReporters reports. Kerenuwa in Marte, Kimba in Biu and Kukumba in Chibok were all attacked by the rampaging militia. There is as yet no comment from Nigeria's military, which is known to have deployed widely in those areas.

UN Blacklists Boko Haram As Terror Group

The United Nations has blacklisted and imposed sanctions on Boko Haram as an Al-Qaeda-linked terror group, a month after it claimed the kidnapping of more than 200 Nigerian schoolgirls. The designation, which was immediately welcomed by Britain and the United States, came into effect after no objections were raised by the Security Council’s 15 members.

The move subjects Boko Haram to UN sanctions, including an arms embargo, asset freeze and travel ban. The group, which was created 10 years ago, demands the creation of an Islamic state in mainly Muslim northern Nigeria. Their attacks have left thousands dead since 2009. Continue......

President Jonathan Signs 2014 Budget

President Goodluck Jonathan on Friday morning signed the 2014 budget into law. According to the Ministry of Finance, the signing followed the completion of statutory legislative processes.

Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Dr. (Mrs.) Ngozi Okonjo Iweala, as well as the director-general of the Budget Office will hold a briefing with journalists on the budget signing later in the afternoon.

NUT Orders Closure Of Schools Today In Protest Against Abducted Chibok Girls

The Nigeria Union of Teachers has ordered the closure of all primary and secondary schools in the country on Thursday (today) in protest against the abduction of the over 200 female students of the Government Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State. Members of the union are also to hold “Bring back our girls” rallies simultaneously in the 36 states of the federation and Abuja.

The President of NUT, Mr. Michael Olukoya, made this known in a statement amid reports that Boko Haram killed 19 people   in a village near Chibok on Wednesday morning.

The statement reads in part:

 “All schools nationwide shall be closed today (Thursday) which will be our day of protest against the abduction of   female students in Chibok and the heartless murder of 173 teachers.

A Horror Tackle Ends An Indonesian Footballer's Life(Video)

 A footballer has died from the injury he suffered on the pitch following a horror challenge during an Indonesian Premier League match.

Persiraja striker Akli Fairuz (in orange) was injured after taking a boot to the body from PSAP Sigli goalkeeper Agus Rahman as the pair raced for the ball in the area.

Players, clearly incensed by the tackle, clashed on the pitch while the referee had to be moved away by security.

Fairuz was substituted but managed to watch the rest of the game from the sidelines. However, the attacker later took a turn for the worse and had to be admitted to hospital. It was soon discovered that Fairus had suffered bladder leakage and, a few days after the match, passed away from his internal injuries. Sad. May his soul rest in peace. The twin bomb blast that occurred this afternoon at the densely populated Terminus Market near Murtala Mohammed way in Jos is more serious than we thought. The twin explosion, which occurred 30 minutes apart, reportedly killed at least 200 people according to eye-witnesses, making it deadlier than the Nyanya blast.

The bomb was planted in two cars, a Peugeot J5 van and a Toyota Sienna SUV with a Gombe state license plate number. Eye-witnesses said the car had been parked near the busy market since early this morning and had even drawn the curiosity of people in the area who allegedly alerted the police. Nigerian Student Emerges Best Graduating Student At American, Dillard University

20 year old Delta state born Merrilyn Akpapuna (pictured above) on May 10th 2014 emerged overall Best Graduating Student of Dillard University, an Ivy league school in New Orleans, USA .

Merrilyn, the daughter of a dental surgeon, graduated with a first class honors in Psychology. She also won two other awards for highest academic achievements for the College of Arts and Sciences and College of General Studies.

Her feat made her share the podium with US First Lady, Michelle Obama, who attended the school's convocation. Merrilyn is pictured above with the President of Dillard University, Dr Walter Kimbrough. Congrats to her. What an inspiration. Continue...

Gen. Buhari Distance Himself From N20m Scammer Arrested By The EFCC

Former military Head of State, Maj.-Gen. Muhammadu Buhari has denied knowing any Muhammed Buhari who has been arrested by EFCC for N20m scam and claims to be his adopted son.

In a statement issued on his behalf by Mr. Jasper Azuatalam, Buhari denied ever knowing the said Muhammed and said he had no reason to adopt any son as God has blessed him with both male and female children. Part of the statement read;

National Conference Suggests N19k Monthly Allowance For Unemployed Graduates In Nigeria

That's what a committee at the on-going National Conference is suggesting...for all unemployed graduates in Nigeria to earn a monthly allowance equivalent to the allowance of members of the National Youth Service Corps, which is N19,800.

Cheating Lagos Based Female Banker Found Dead In Bed With Married Lover

A female banker,Mrs. Adejoke Ayeola of  Iperu Remo in Ogun State and her lover, Mr. Wilson Ugwunna perished during lovemaking at Eziudo community in Ezinihitte, Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State. 

Wilson, 42, had two children while his lover, who was 44 years old, was a mother of two children. She was said to have been married to a traditional ruler in Ogun State.

 According to Sunday Trust,The lovers had returned from Lagos on Saturday, April 26, 2014 and went to bed, but were not seen throughout the following day, a development that drew the attention of Wilson’s family members.

When the door to the room where the lovers slept was forced open, Adejoke’s body had started decomposing while her lover was in deep coma. continue......

Adopted Son Of General Buhari Arrested Over N20million Scam

Mohammed Buhari, an adopted son of former Military Head of State and APC Chieftain Mohammdu Buhari has being arrested by men of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, for allegedly defrauding a businesswoman, Mrs Florence Nwokocha, to the tune of N20million, Sahara Reporters reports.

According to SR, Mohammed, who was introduced to Mrs Nwokocha through his account officer at Ecobank, had promised Mrs Nwokocha 10% of annual profit from a supposed oil deal which she was made to invest N20m into. After receiving her money, Muhammed reportedly disappeared. When he was eventually arrested by the EFCC, Muhammed claimed he ran into trouble after losing bank guarantee which he secured from another new generation bank. He is currently in the custody of the EFCC.

Reuben Abati Says The President Never Planned To Visit Chibok Today

CNN, Reuters and many news agencies yesterday reported that GEJ would be visiting Chibok today...but now his media spokesperson Reuben Abati says he never made such plans. The president is being criticized for choosing to go to Paris today for a security summit instead of visiting Chibok.

I live in my own house (it has a swimming pool, lounge and studio) and I make bold to say I didn’t buy it. I built it from the scratch. But a lot of these artistes will claim they bought a house for N300m or N400m.But I didn’t spend up to that amount to build my house. If you have that amount, say N500m, you don’t go and buy one property. There are many things to do with money. They claim they have state-of-the-art cars, but that is not my priority. I have choice cars, but it takes a lot of money to maintain such cars.”

President Jonathan Cancels Trip To Chibok

 

President Jonathan has cancelled his planned trip to Chibok, Borno State, the small town where over 200 girls were abducted about a month ago. He was scheduled to visit the place today May 16th but instead is attending the Africa Security Summit which is holding in Paris today.

Nigeria Army Fires Commander Of Battalion whose battalion revolted yesterday

The Army Commander whose unit revolted yesterday May 14th in Maiduguri (find the report after the cut) has been removed by the Nigerian Army from the 7th infantry division.

Spokesman of the Nigerian Army, Major General Chris Olukolade, announced the removal of Major General Ahmadu Mohammed in a statement released today.

The Commander's battalion revolted yesterday, shooting sporadically after seeing the bodies of their colleagues who had been ambushed and killed by Boko Haram in Chibok. They also complained of not getting adequate weaponry to fight Boko Haram and poor conditions. The soldiers shot at their commander during the rampage but didn't kill him.
