Mourinho: Chelsea are killing me in every game

Jose Mourinho is starting to feel drained at having to watch his Chelsea team hang on for scrambling victories despite dominating opponents, the manager said after Thursday’s 1-0 Premier League win over Swansea City. The 2012 European champions were always in control at Stamford Bridge but only had Eden Hazard’s first-half goal to show for their superiority.

“They kill me every game,” said a smiling Mourinho after Chelsea climbed to third in the Premier League, two points behind leaders Arsenal.

“Every game I am tired at the end. At half-time we should all be relaxed with a comfortable score but time goes on, we didn’t score the second goal and you feel the opponent is keen to risk a bit more and put in a second striker and you are a bit in trouble,” he said.

“But the boys worked hard defensively and in the last part they looked comfortable and we had control of the game so it was a deserved victory and an important victory.”

The popular saying that hell has no fury than a woman scorned came to pass on Monday at the Surulere residence of a banker, Bimbo Ajetumobi Daniju and her gospel singer husband Olalekan Idowu Daniju when the woman allegedly took a knife and sliced her husband’s penis during a fight. 

Bimbo, staff of a new generation bank in Lagos was said to have accused her husband of not taking care of her and their only child, Opeoluwa. The husband disagreed and while fighting, Bimbo allegedly seized her husband’s penis and sliced it with a knife. Bimbo denied using a knife but her fingernails to teach her husband a lesson on how not to treat a woman. The ugly incident happened on Monday at their Falolu Street, Surulere home.

A father in Newyork City threw his young child off the roof of a 52-story Manhattan apartment building in a murder-suicide on the first day he was allowed to be alone with the boy amid an ugly custody battle with the mother, police officials said Monday.

"There was a history of domestic turmoil," Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly told reporters.

The man named Dmitriy Kanarikov picked up his 3-year-old son at 10 a.m. Sunday at a Manhattan police precinct — a neutral site negotiated in advance by the parents — to spend time with him for the first time "outside of some sort of institutional setting," Kelly said. Continue

Tim Sherwood have been appointed as Tottenham head coach until 2015

Tottenham have appointed Tim Sherwood as head coach on a full-time basis.

The former England midfielder guided Spurs to a 3-2 win at Southampton on Sunday as interim boss and has now been handed a contract until the end of the 2014-15 Premier League season.

Sherwood, 44, replaces Andre Villas-Boas, who was sacked last week.

"We believe Tim has both the knowledge and the drive to take the squad forward," Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy told the club's official website.

Sherwood, who won three caps for England, joined Tottenham as a player in 1999 from Blackburn, where he won the Premier League title in 1995. He left White Hart Lane in 2003 and moved to Portsmouth but returned as part of the club's coaching staff in 2008 under manager Harry Redknapp.

Sherwood was working as technical co-ordinator when chairman Levy asked him to look after the first team following the departure of Villas-Boas. The Portuguese, 36, left the club after winning only two of his last seven league games in charge. Continue

Remember three months ago some gunmen besieged an uncompleted building at Apo district of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, and killed eight squatters on allegation that they were members of the Boko Haram sect, the Nigerian Army, yesterday, claimed responsibility.

Nigerian-ArmyTestifying before an investigative panel set up by the Governing Council of the National Human Rights Commission, NHRC, yesterday, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Azubuike Ihejirika, said the soldiers acted in self-defence after they were shot at.

Ihejrika, who was represented at the hearing by the Commander, Brigade of Guards Nigeria Army, Major-Gen. Emmanuel Atewe, said the incident, which occurred on September 20, was an isolated case, saying the Army had acted with a view to averting mayhem in Abuja.

Meanwhile TMZ reports that a group of fans are trying to rename the street he died on to 'Walker Rodas Memorial Parkway' but residents of the area have rejected the idea, saying Paul and his friend did nothing for their community and don't deserve to have the street named after them. The petition to re-name the street after Paul so far has over 2000 signatures.

EFCC arrests Speaker and other principal officers of Kano Assembly

Agents of the anti-graft agency took away the speaker of the House of  Assembly, Gambo Salau, and all the principal officers as well as the Clerk, for grilling, in what the state government has described as a political assault on the state government following the mass defection of the State Governor, Engr. Rabiu Kwakwanso alongside several other key politicians in government positions to the opposition All Progressive Congress (APC) from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The speaker and all other principal officers were first stripped of their security details and moved into a vehicle before being taken away to the EFCC office in Kano and later transferred to Abuja for what the operatives called “questioning.”

Reacting to the development, Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso described the action not only as politically motivated but also a brazen attempt to frustrate the Kano lawmakers from defecting to All Progressives Congress, APC.

The governor said: “It is crystal clear that the above mentioned public officials were arrested by the EFCC based on the orders from the above, because of the legislators’ defection to APC, in support of Governor Kwankwaso. Continue.....

Obasanjo in a media statementsays he will not react to President Jonathan's letter

 

Former President Obasanjo says he will not react to President Jonathan's letter. He released a media statement today through his Media aide, Tunde Oladunjoye, saying he has accomplished his aim of bringing President Jonathan's attention to important national issues and has nothing else to say to him

The statement read, 

 

“Since the publication of the letter written by the President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, which was in response to the letter earlier written by revered former President Olusegun Obasanjo; we have received several requests from local & international media asking to know Chief Obasanjo’s reaction to Mr. President’s response. 

 

“One, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, acknowledges Mr. President’s letter/response. However, Baba, as he already indicated in his December 2, 2013 letter, does not wish to make further comments beyond the contents of his last letter to Mr. President or react to the said letter/response from Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan. Let me quote from page fourteen, paragraph two of Chief Obasanjo’s letter to Mr. President dated December 2, 2013 and titled Before It Is Too Late:

 

‘I will maintain my serenity, because by this letter I have done my duty to you as I have always done, to your government, to the party, PDP, and to our country, Nigeria’. more after the cut.....

 

“Two, let me reiterate here, that Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, GCFR has tremendous respect for the office of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. A Boeing 747 jet belonging to British Airways, yesterday Sunday Dec. 22nd crashed its right wing into an airport building inside the OR Tambo Airport in Johannesburg, South Africa. (Pic above)

The flight, which was on its way to London, veered off the taxiway as it headed to the runway and buried its right wing in the 2-storey brick structure, injuring four airport officials, Daily Mail reports.

A statement from the South African Civil Aviation Authority's (SACAA) preliminary report, said the aircraft was cleared for takeoff on Runway 03L but took a smaller runway. 

'The air crew got instructions from the Air Traffic Control to taxi using taxi way B. The crew continued onto taxi way M which is narrower resulting in the aircraft impacting on an office building behind the SAA Technical hangers.
 

A spokesman for OR Tambo airport said the 17 Crew and 185 passengers who were in the aircraft escaped unharmed. They were evacuated from the aircraft and spent the night in a hotel.

 

NMA, call off its 5-day warning strike

The Nigerian Medical Association, NMA, has called off its 5-day warning strike which began on the 15th of December and asked all doctors to resume this morning Monday December 23rd.

The President of the Association, Osahon Enabulele, while speaking on the call off said;  

"NMA wishes to inform the general public that doctors in the public health sector will resume services from December 23. This is in line with our earlier promise to give prime consideration to the Yuletide season in the prosecution of our warning strike. Also, to give another opportunity for the Federal Government to concretely resolve all the demands of NMA for which it first issued a 21-day ultimatum on September 2"

Mr Enabulele however said that a full blown strike would be embarked upon by the association from January 6th 2014 if their demands are not met by the Federal Government.

High tension in Enugu as Unidentified policemen assaulted an Army officer

According a report from Vanguard, Tension is mounting high among the police and army personnel in Enugu, following the assault on the Provost Group Commander, 82 Division, Nigerian Army, Enugu, Colonel Dan Walang, by some unidentified policemen.

The incident, according to sources, occurred at GRA, Enugu, last Tuesday night.

The provost was said to have been beating to a pulp by the policemen believed to be on patrol duty.
He was reportedly driving with a lady when he had a disagreement with the policemen.
“It was not clear the score the Army Officer had to settle with the policemen but it was like a case of mistaken identity,” said the source.

It was learnt that the assault on the army colonel was severe that he was rushed to the military hospital where he is now being treated.

Col. Hamza Gambo, Public Relations Officer, 82 Division, confirmed it when contacted yesterday that the officer was assaulted, adding that the matter had been formally reported to the police authorities.

Armed robbers shot dead Fade & Sesan Ogunro's dad last night

Beat FM OAP Fade Ogunro and her prolific music video director brother Sesan Ogunro lost their dad in the early hours of this morning Monday Dec. 23rd. Mr Sesan Ogunro Snr, who was an advertising guru, was returning from his church Christmas Carol with members of his family, including his children and grand children when they were attacked by armed robbers last night around 10pm in front of their church at the back of Marwa Garden in Alausa Ikeja.

Mr Ogunro was shot point blank by the robbers. He was rushed to the hospital where he died around 12.45am early this morning. He was in his sixties. Too sad. May his soul rest in peace...amen.

The General Overseer of The Deeper Life Bible Church, Pastor W.F Kumuyi warned his church members during their annual National December Convention which held on Saturday Dec 21st, against celebrating Christmas, because according to him it is idolatrous and unscriptural.

Kumuyi said;

“We don’t celebrate Christmas. It actually came from idolatrous background. That is why you don’t hear us sing what they call Christmas carol, Never! We always say it is the December retreat. We are only gathering together because it is the holiday period and love the lord more, and rededicate ourselves more.

“When you find anybody coming in, or any leader, trying to introduce the idolatry of mystery Babylon, that they call Christmas and you want to bring all the Christmas carol saying that is the day that Jesus was born, and you don’t find that in the Acts of the Apostles or in the early church, then you don’t find that in the church either.  If you don’t know that before, now you know.

Army kills 12 escaping gunmen involved Mubi attack in shoot-out

Beyidi Martins, the Commanding Officer of the Special Battalion enforcing the state of emergency in Mubi, Adamawa, said soldiers killed 12 gunmen who attacked Mubi Central Market on Wednesday.

About 20 gunmen attacked bureau de change shops in the market, killing and injuring about 10 people while they stole an undisclosed amount of local and foreign currencies.

Martins confirmed that the soldiers caught up with the escaping criminals near Digil village in Mubi, where a shoot-out ensued, leading to the killing of the 12 insurgents. Continue...

'Overcoming The Storm' Crusade: Mountain of Fire out to close all beer parlors in Lagos

Obasanjo vents his anger on Vanguard over daughter's open letter

Former president Olusegun Obasanjo has reacted in very strong terms over the 11-page letter purportedly written by his daughter Iyabo Obasanjo and exclusively published by Vanguard yesterday where he was described as a liar, manipulator and a woman beater.

A call was put through to the former president yesterday by the editors of Vanguard to hear his side of the allegations leveled against him by his daughter and the conversation went thus:

Vanguard: Sir, we tried reaching you all through yesterday, to no avail, over the letter written by your daughter, Iyabo, to you.

Chief Obasanjo: You are a bloody idiot, you have published the paper and you are now looking for me, you are an idiot, don’t call me again. When Iyabo finishes you in court…. (hangs up).

The Nigerian Senate officially bans same sex marriage

The Nigerian Senate have officially banned same sex marriage in Nigeria. Man + Man = Not allowed. Woman + Woman = Go to prison. :-). Only a union between a man and a woman in a recognized worship center is allowed.

The new bill states;

1. A marriage contract or civil union entered into between persons of same sex by virtue a certificate issued by a foreign country shall be void in Nigeria.
2. Marriage or civil union entered into between persons of same sex shall not be solemnized in any place of worship either Church or Mosque or any other place whatsoever called in Nigeria.
3. Only marriage contracted between a man and a woman either under Islamic Law, Customary Law or the Marriage Act is recognized as valid in Nigeria.
4. Persons that entered into a same sex marriage or civil union contract commit an offense and are jointly liable on conviction to a term of 14 years imprisonment each.
5. Any persons or group of persons that administers, witnesses, screens, abet and aids the solemnization of a same sex marriage contract or civil union or supports the registration, operation of gay clubs, societies and organizations, processions or meetings in Nigeria commits an offense and liable on conviction to a term of 10 years imprisonment.

The bill awaits the approval of President Goodluck Jonathan.

37 PDP House of Reps defect to APC

According to a report by Channels TV, 37 PDP House of Reps members yesterday Dec 18th defected to All Progressive Congress, APC. The lawmakers say there defection is as a result of the factionalisation and division currently rocking the PDP. There defection they say is in line with Section 68 subsection 1G of the Nigerian Constitution.

According to a report, 54% of Nigerian youths were unemployed in 2012

According to a data provided by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) yesterday Tuesday Dec. 17th, 54% of Nigerian youths were unemployed in 2012.

This was revealed in the '2012 National Baseline Youth Survey Report' issued by NBS and the Fed. Ministry of Youths Development. The report read in part;

'More than half, about 54 per cent, of youth population were unemployed. Of this, females stood at 51.9 per cent compared to their male counterpart with 48.1 per cent were unemployed."

With the mass sack going in various companies in Nigeria, the figure should be higher this year.

Yesterday, Nigerian doctors begin 5-day warning strike

Nigerian doctors yesterday began a 5-day warning strike following a 21-day ultimatum issued weeks ago to the federal government, demanding pay rise, improved welfare, infrastructure and other benefits which was promised to them.

The President of the Nigerian Medical Association, Dr Osahon Enabulele said this is the first phase of the strike, that the second phase would be effective after the yuletide if there are no favorable developments.

All doctors in public hospitals yesterday morning retrieved their services.

Another open letter: Obasanjo's Daughter writes him, Says He Is a Liar, Manipulator And Hypocrite

Daughter of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Iyabo, wrote an open letter to her father, describing him as a liar, manipulator, two-faced hypocrite determined to foist on President Goodluck Jonathan what no one would contemplate with him as president, and has ruled out further communication with him till death.

This is really turning out to be a season of  open letters.

Part of the letter read, “Like most Nigerians, I believe there are very enormous issues currently plaguing the country but I was surely surprised that you will be the one to publish such a treatise. I remember clearly as if it was yesterday the day I came over to Abuja from Abeokuta when I was Commissioner of Health in OgunState, specifically to ask you not to continue to pursue the third term issue.

“I had tried to bring it up when your sycophantic aides were present and they brushed my comments aside and as usual you listened to their self-serving counsel. For you to accuse someone else of what you so obviously practiced yourself tells of your narcissistic megalomaniac personality.  Everyone around for even a few minutes knows that the only thing you respond to is praise and worship of you. People have learnt how to manipulate you by giving you what you crave. The only ones that can’t and will not stroke your ego are family members who you universally treat like shit (sic) apart from the few who have learned to manipulate you like others.

R. Kelly's response to Village Voice story on past sexual assault allegations

Yesterday, R.Kelly responded to the Village Voice shocking article about his history of alleged sexual abuse of teenage girls which centered around an interview with Chicago Sun-Times music journalist, Jim DeRogatis, who broke the story 15 years ago.

During an interview with Atlanta’s V-103, R.Kelly said;

"Well I feel like I got the football man, and I’m running towards the touchdown and if I stop and look back or mess around, I’ll get tackled. When you get on top of anything, it’s very windy, It’s about holding your balance once you get up there…Spiritually, I’m a climber.”

The accusations were stomach churning. The one young woman, who had been 14 or 15 when R. Kelly began a relationship with her, detailed in great length, in her affidavits, a sexual relationship that began at Kenwood Academy: He would go back in the early years of his success and go to Lina McLin's gospel choir class. She's a legend in Chicago, gospel royalty. He would go to her sophomore class and hook up with girls afterward and have sex with them. Sometimes buy them a pair of sneakers. Sometimes just letting them hang out in his presence in the recording studio. She detailed the sexual relationship that she was scarred by. It lasted about one and a half to two years, and then he dumped her and she slit her wrists, tried to kill herself. Other girls were involved. She recruited other girls. He picked up other girls and made them all have sex together. A level of specificity that was pretty disgusting.

Two of the six cult boys who raped a 16 year old secondary school student in Akure, Ondo State last week have been arrested by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC)

The men, said to members of a cult group known as Blue Angel, saw the girl as she was returning from school, they stopped her, took her to their hideout and raped her. All six of them. They recorded the act with a mobile phone and threatened to post the video online if she told anyone what happened.

Fortunately she did and two of the rapists, Wale Fadahunsi, 28, and Banji Olaseinde, 25, have been arrested, while four others are on the run. Those on the run include Tope Oluwole; Tope Jigan and Muyideen. The two that were arrested were paraded a few days ago where they confessed to raping the helpless girl whose identity is being concealed because of her age.

Spurs have sacked their manager Andre Villas-Boas

Tottenham have finally sacked manager Andre Villas-Boas in the wake of Sunday's 5-0 thrashing by Liverpool.

The defeat was the club's worst at White Hart Lane in 16 years and left Spurs seventh in the Premier League - eight points behind leaders Arsenal.
 Villas-Boas, 36, took over at Tottenham in July 2012.
 "The club can announce that agreement has been reached with head coach Andre Villas-Boas for the termination of his services," said a Spurs statement.
"The decision was by mutual consent and in the interests of all parties."
Villas-Boas had come under increasing pressure in recent weeks as his side struggled to keep pace with the top four in the league.
His side lost 6-0 to Manchester City on 24 November and, despite a draw against Manchester United and wins at Fulham and Sunderland, the defeat by Liverpool proved the final straw for the Spurs hierarchy.

Mystery: Shocking death of a lawyer, passenger with engine running in Asaba reported

Tragedy struck in Asaba, the Delta State capital, on Thursday following the puzzling way a lawyer and his colleague died at a popular roundabout in their steaming Toyota Camry car in the state.

The casualties, seated in the neatly parked steaming car, with registration number FGG 931 AE, along the road, after negotiating the roundabout, left the air-conditional system on and dozed to death.

Within a twinkle of an eye, the victims started gasping and foam was seen coming out from their mouth and nose.

Beyonce surprised her fans by secretly dropping a new album on iTunes last night December 12th. The self titled album is Beyonce's 5th solo album and features 31 tracks, 14 of which are new songs.

In the new album, Beyonce collaborated with Jay Z, Drake, Justin Timberlake, Kelly Rowland....and featured our very Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie on a track titled Flawless. Beyonce put a portion of the award winning author's speech about feminism and roles women play in the society in the song. Pop meets Literature! Amazing stuff.

Meanwhile Beyonce has filmed 17 new music videos, one of which she released on Facebook last night. You have to be really big to release an album without any promos or prior warning to fans.
