Twin Boys Stabbed To Death By Their Brother Who Then Killed Himself

Atiku Abubakar Declares Interest In The 2015 Presidential Race

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has finally declared his interest in contesting in the 2015 presidential election on the ticket of the APC. Troops Arrest Key Actor In Chibok Girls Abduction

A terrorists’ intelligence cell headed by a businessman who participated actively in the abduction of School Girls in Chibok has been busted by troops.   The man, Babuji Ya’ari who is also a member of the Youth Vigilante Group popularly known as Civilian JTF which he uses as cover while remaining an active terrorist, also spearheaded the murder of the Emir of Gwoza.  His main role in the group is to spy and gather information for the terrorists group.

He has been coordinating several deadly attacks in Maiduguri since 2011, including the daring attacks on Customs and military locations as well as the planting of IEDs in several locations in the town.
The arrest of the businessman who is known to deal in tricycles has also yielded some vital information and facilitated the arrest of other members of the terrorists’ intelligence cell who are women.  One of them, Hafsat Bako had earlier escaped to Gombe State to avoid suspicion but was tracked and arrested.  Prior to her arrest, Hafsat coordinated the payment of other operatives on the payroll of the group.   In her confession, she disclosed that a minimum of N10,000 is paid to each operative depending on the enormity of his task.

Another female suspect named Haj Kaka who doubles as an armourer and a spy for the terrorists group has also been arrested, the Director of Defence Information, Major General Chris Olukolade stated in a press release.

Bomb Explosion At A Busy Market In Maiduguri This Morning

A bomb exploded at a busy market in Maiduguri, Borno state, this morning July1st. Eye-witnesses said the bomb went off around 8am this morning at the busy market near a Power Holding building.

The number of casualty is expected to be high because of how crowded the area is.

A Borno state govt official confirmed the blast to Sahara Reporters, saying the causality number is very high but stated that security agencies are working to secure the area and rescue victims.

Coach Stephen Keshi And Joseph Yobo Quit Super Eagles, Confirms Through Twit

Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi and the team captain Joseph Yobo have both quit the Nigerian National soccer team after failing to qualify for the quarter-final stage of the 2014 World Cup. Stephen Keshi, took to his twitter account to confirm he's quitting the Super Eagles.

 
The team captain, Joseph Yobo yesterday evening also announced his resignation as a player for the super eagles.  Yobo after the 2-0 loss to France, told reporters that it was time for him to go face his family.
 
"It was a bitter-sweet moment for me but I think it is time to focus on my family. It has been a long road. I never thought that I’d be here because I missed the last six games of the season through injury. They gave me an opportunity but it is unfortunate what happened. I gave my all,” he said. 
 
Yobo follows in the step of Kanu Nwankwo who announced his retirement after the World cup in 2010. The 33 year old defender said he would like to concentrate on club football now.

World Cup 2014: Super Eagles Boycott Training Over Bonus Money

Super Eagles players reportedly missed a scheduled training session yesterday after a disagreement with officials of the National Football Federation over bonus money. The players refused to train in Campinas on Thursday and NFF officials later confirmed the session had been cancelled.
 
BBC Sports reports that the players believe they are each $15,000 (£8,800) short of what they were expecting for reaching the last 16 in Brazil.
 
According to BBC:- BBC Sport has learned the problem lies in the interpretation of the bonus structure, with the players believing they will only receive $10,000 for their win 1-0 over Bosnia-Hercegovina and $5,000 for the 0-0 draw with Iran. continue....

Manchester United Signs Ander Herrera On A 4 Year Deal

Manchester United have completed the signing of Athletic Bilbao midfielder Ander Herrera.

The Old Trafford club have confirmed that the 24-year-old has agreed a four-year deal and, in doing so, becomes new manager Louis van Gaal's first signing at Old Trafford.

Earlier on Thursday Athletic announced that the midfielder had paid his buyout clause, paving the way for him to move to England after the Basque club had previously rejected a £29 million offer.

FIFA Announce Luiz Suarez Punishment, Read Full Statement

Liverpool and Uruguay striker Luis Suarez has been given a nine-match ban by Fifa and a four-month global suspension for biting Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini.

As a result of the sanction, Suarez is set to miss Liverpool's first nine games of the new Premier League season, which includes fixtures against Manchester City, Tottenham and Everton.

Plane Flying From Nigeria To Gabon Missing

A four-seater plane flying from Nigeria to Gabon via Cameroon has gone missing. The plane, owned by US company, Global Aviation, took off from Kano Airport around 6pm yesterday Monday June 23rd and was billed to make a stop over at Doula Cameroon before continuing to Gabon to arrive at 11pm but it never arrived at Doula, Cameroonian Aviation authorities have said. Only an American pilot was on-board.
 
The Gabon Aviation authorities say the last contact they had with the plane was when it was in Mongo which is a 2-hour flight from the Cameroonian economic capital. 
 
Report says that search and rescue operations led by Cameroon’s civil aviation authorities have not yielded any positive results.

8 Dead As Bomb Went Off In School Of Hygiene In Kano

The Commissioner of Police in Kano state, Adenrele Shinaba, has said that eight persons were killed in Monday’s bomb blast at the School of Hygiene in Kano.

He said the blast occurred at about 2:05pm.

The School of Hygiene is located along Bayero University Kano, BUK, road in Kano which has suffered similar attacks in the past.

Addressing reporters at the scene of the blast, Mr. Shinaba also said several others were injured and have been taken to the hospitals for treatment. He also said one suspect was arrested in connection with the blast.
He said further information will be provided in the course of the investigation of the incident.

No group has claimed responsibility for the blast although the insurgent Boko Haram has carried out similar attacks in Kano and other northern states.

Tiwa Savage, Ice Prince Join Nicki Minaj, Others To Perform At BET Awards

Some of Africa’s biggest names in African contemporary music are set to perform as part of the BET Experience at L.A. LIVE for the first time ever. Nigerian singer-songwriter Tiwa Savage, South African Afro-pop duo Mafikizolo and Ghanaian hip hop artist Sarkodie will perform as part of the “Music Around the Globe” presentation on Saturday 28 June. The three artists are all nominated in the “BET Awards” ‘Best International Act: Africa’ category. 
This will be the first time that Mafikizolo and Tiwa Savage have performed in the United States, and the announcement follows their wins at the MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMAs) earlier in the month in the ‘Best Group’ and ‘Best Female’categories respectively. Sarkodie also took home a MAMA for ‘Best HipHop’.
In addition, Nigerian hip hop superstar Ice Prince, who won the 2013 BET Award for ‘Best International Act: Africa’, will also take to the stage on Sunday 29 June: he will also present the award for the same category to this year’s winner at the BET Awards.
This is the first time international acts have performed as part of the BET Experience at L.A. LIVE since the introduction of international BET Award categories, ‘Best International Act: Africa’ and ‘Best International Act: UK’ in 2010.
 
International acts taking the stage include Nicki Minaj, John Legend, Jhene Aiko, August Alsina, K. Michelle, Mack Wilds, Mary J. Blige, Trey Songz and Jennifer Hudson.

Nigeria To Recover $227million Abacha Loot From Liechtenstein

There was a reason corruption charges was dropped against Mohammed Abacha, the eldest son of late former Nigerian Head of State, Gen, Sani Abacha. $227million stolen money has been recovered from the Abacha family. On June 25th Nigeria will receive $227million from the government of the Principality of Liechtenstein, Europe, as the nation is said to have agreed to release the stolen money.
AFP reports that the federal government said today Thursday June 19th that it dropped the charges against Mohammed in a deal to allow the return of the Liechtenstein money.
Mohammed Abacha is wanted in the US for his alleged part in laundering $458m in funds stolen by his late father and frozen by the U.S in February. Abacha, who died in 1998 and is believed to have stolen up to $5 billion.

CDS: Coup D’ Etat Rumours Unfounded

The Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh, has refuted rumors of a possible coup d' etat by the military, stating that the rumour was unfounded.
 
ACM Badeh stated this on Tuesday June 18th while receiving the Director General of the National Orientation Agency , Dr Mike Omeiri in his office. He said the Military would always work to protect the democracy of Nigeria and not destroy it.

"Rumours in some quarters of a possible coup d’état in the country are unfounded. Why should anyone be thinking in the negative fashion? Tell them we will not do it. Those spreading rumours of coups must be living elsewhere and not in Nigeria. The Armed Forces are defenders of democracy. We are an arm of democracy, so how can an arm of democracy work against the democracy that we are part of?” he said

Police Officer Slumps In Anambra After Being Transferred To Borno State

A Police officer reportedly slumped yesterday after following a directive by the Inspector General of Police,transferring him to Borno State.

According to ThisDay,the officer, an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) attached to the Central Police Station, Nnewi in the Anambra State Police Command, had less than a year left to retire from the service was among the 149 officers affected by the postings to different parts of the country.

Singer Kefee Dies Of Lung Failure

Singer Kefee Obareki Don Momoh passed away this morning June 13th at the US hospital where she was taken to after she collapsed and went into coma. Her UK publicist just confirmed her death in an official statement which reads:-

On behalf of the family….It is with a great sadness but grateful hearts that we announce the passing to glory due to lungs failure this morning of our God’s mouth piece, chorus leader, daughter, wife, sister, friend Kefee Branama Queen … May her beautiful, gentle and precious soul rest in perfect peace. Amen!!

PS: In contrast to all earlier rumors and stories in circulation, I do state that Kefee wasn’t 6 months pregnant and neither did she have pre-eclampsia.

The 2014 World cup began this evening June 12th with a colorful opening ceremony at the Arena de Sao Paulo in Brazil that reportedly cost around $4.5million to put together. 

International music stars, Jennifer Lopez and Pitbull were joined on stage by Brazilian pop-star Claudia Leitte to perform the official World Cup song 'We Are One (Ola Ola)'.

Nigerian Woman Sentenced To 25 Years In Jail In Cambodia For Drug Offence

A Cambodian Municipal Court yesterday June 11th sentenced 36 year old Nigerian woman, Collin Seniola Bosede to 25 years in prison for international drug trafficking after being found with 1.5kg of methamphetamine in her bag at the Phnom Penh International Airport in August 2013. 
 
Bosede, who was travelling to Cambodia from Nigeria on August 4th made a stop at Qatar where according to her confessional statement, she met with a Canadian man named Amad who handed her a bag containing cassette players, the drug, clothes and a laptop and asked her to give it to an unidentified man in Cambodia. She was arrested as she landed at the Phnom Penh Airport.  
 
During her trial on May 27th 2014, Bosede said she did not know the bag contained any drug as what she saw was only the laptop and the clothes in the bag. As the court read the verdict yesterday, she began crying. "It was very unjust. I was not the drug trafficker. Please release me. I want to go back home,” Bosede said.

Members of the Fresh Start Youth Foundation led by its National Coordinator, Barr. Chidi Ujoatumba (standing Left on black Jacket), on June 9th at the Unity Fountain Abuja protested the continuous incarceration of Nigerians in Indonesia Prisons.

Nigerian Lesbian Plans To Submit Her Own Sex-Tape To Avoid UK Deportation


46 year old Nigerian lesbian, Aderonke Apata, says she is ready to make a sex tape with her partner just to prove to UK Home Office that she is really a lesbian.

Aderonke who is currently seeking asylum in the UK over claims that she will be killed if deported to Nigeria, says she is ready to go that far to prove that she is really a lesbian after the UK Home Office said they doubt the authenticity of her claims of being gay.

Aderonke, pictured above with her lesbian partner, Happiness Agboro, has been in a running battle with the UK Home office for a while now.

Despite sending them love letters from former girlfriends and supporting statements from friends that she's really gay, the Home Office is not convinced. Now she says she's ready to send them a very personal home video to back up her claims.

Keshi: Nigeria Unrests Affecting Super Eagles' Focus

Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi, says the incessant unrest in Nigeria is affecting the morale and focus of his players ahead of the World Cup.

Speaking in an interview with ESPN, Africa’s best coach revealed that some the of the players and members of his technical team have friends and family in the affected areas, and are continuously worrying about their safety.   “Directly it is not affecting us, but it is threatening us indirectly because some of us have family members around there” he said.

He however added that the Super Eagles have a task ahead and a duty to Nigeria and all Africa and thus the team is doing everything to put the crisis behind them and focus on the World Cup. “We have a duty to our country, and we will not allow the security situation to affect our preparation” he said. continue....

The Emir Of Kano, Ado Bayero, Is Dead

Emir Kano Ado Bayero
One of Nigeria’s most prominent traditional rulers and the second most important Muslim leader in Nigeria, Ado Abdullahi Bayero, the Emir of Kano has died.

The Emir died early today, Friday 6th June in Kano family sources said. He is expected to be buried later today according to Islamic rites.

The spokesperson to the Kano State governor, Baba Dantiye, confirmed his death. He has been the Emir of Kano since 1963.

Auto Dealer Excretes 52 Wraps Of Cocaine

36 year old Imo-state born Anabaronye Ken, an auto parts dealer based in Lagos has been arrested by National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) officials after he excreted 52 wraps of cocaine at the Muritala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos. He was arrested as he was about to board a flight to France en route Milan, Italy. It took Ken four days to excrete all the drugs from his system, Punch reports
 
When interrogated, Ken said he went into the business to better the life of his family and prayed that he be released on time so he can witness the birth of his unborn child as his pregnant wife is due to give birth soon. Continue...

Singer Kefee In A Serious Coma, Needs Prayers - Husband

 
Singer Kefee, has been confirmed to be indeed in a coma in a US hospital under intensive care. Her husband, Teddy Don-Momoh ealier today through his twitter handle asked people to please pray for her. Later in the day her publicist released a statement asking her fans and the general public to put her in prayer.

Kefee was reported to have collapsed on a Chicago-bound flight last week which forced the plane to make an emergency landing in Los Angeles so she could receive medical attention. Teddy flew to the US last Saturday to be with his wife.

Update! Boko Haram Attack On Emirs: One Dies, The Other Escaped

There were reports earlier today that two prominent Borno State Emirs, the Emir of Gwoza, Alhaji Idrissa Timta (pictured right) and Emir of Uba Alhaji Ali Ibn Ismaila Mamza (pictured left) were kidnapped by Boko Haram men while on their way to Gombe to attend the burial of Emir of Gombe, Shehu Abubakar.

According to Daily Trust, one of the Emirs, Alhaji Idrissa Timta has died. Security sources said he died of heart attack while fleeing into the bush after gunmen attacked his convoy and fired several shots which forced it to stop.
 
“Already, arrangement is being made to bring his corpse to Gwoza from Shafa. His corpse was found in the bush,” a source said.
 
The Emir of Uba, Alhaji Ali Ibn Ismaila Mamza, who is younger, escaped while many of the people in their entourage have been reportedly abducted by the attackers.
 
It was gathered that most of the vehicles in the convoy have been set ablaze.

Boko Haram Kidnaps Two Prominent Emirs In Borno State

According to report by Premium Times, Boko Haram men this morning kidnapped 2 first class traditional rulers in Borno State - the Emir of Uba, Ismaila Mamza and the Emir of Gwoza, Idrisa Timta.

According to security officials who spoke with Premium Times, the emirs were seized by the gunmen around 10a.m today Friday May 30th near Shaffa while they were traveling to Gombe to attend the funeral of the Emir of Gombe, Shehu Abubakar, who died on Tuesday May 27th. (pictured above)

The Borno state government is yet to issue an official statement on the abduction.

Father Flog 16-year Old Son To Death Over N1,200 Theft In Lagos

Lagos police authorities have arrested a man for allegedly beating his son to death with a belt for stealing N1,200.

According to Punch, the man, Benson, received reports from residents in the area that his son, Bright, had stolen the money from them. Benson was enraged when he found the stolen N1,200 in his son’s pocket and proceeded to beat his son brutally. Bright had reportedly been ill before the beating, and so a combination of the illness and the severe beating led to his death.

“My father was very angry on discovering the money in Bright’s pocket. He returned the money to the owners, and after they left, tied Bright’s hands with a rope. He then began to beat him with the iron end of his belt,” said Benson’s second son, Samuel.

Bright’s body has been deposited at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital Ikeja mortuary for autopsy. The case is now being probed by the State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba.

Chibok Boy Confesses To Razing Houses In Borno Village For N2,000

A young Chibok boy named Ibrahim Tilitili has confessed to razing a few houses in his small village in Mandara Girau village in Biu LGA of Borno state, Vanguard reports. Ibrahim later claimed a man named Mallam Sani, also a resident of the village, gave him N2,000 to carry out the arson.

Ibrahim had set three houses ablaze, had caused serious panic and was getting ready to destroy more homes when some brave villagers apprehended him when they realized it was a lone attack.

The youths had wanted to lynch the young boy when elders in the village intervened and he was instead arrested and taken to Sarkin Baka- renown hunter in Biu town, where he confessed to being instructed to set the houses ablaze. He then led the vigilante in the area to the man who claimed asked him to do it. Both were arrested and handed over to police in Biu town.
