One
of Nigeria’s most prominent traditional rulers and the second most
important Muslim leader in Nigeria, Ado Abdullahi Bayero, the Emir of
Kano has died.
The Emir died early today, Friday 6th June
in Kano family sources said. He is expected to be buried later today
according to Islamic rites.
The spokesperson to the Kano State governor, Baba Dantiye, confirmed his death. He has been the Emir of Kano since 1963.
