A hostage negotiator in direct contact with the kidnappers of more than 200 schoolgirls in Nigeria tells Channel 4 News their safe release is "within reach", but that their fate rests on a knife-edge.

The girls, we believe, are alive but they have been moved from the location to which they were originally taken," the intermediary told Channel 4 News. "It would not be hard to engineer a deal. It looks like they want to release them."

The kidnappers have warned, however, that attempts by the military to launch a rescue attempt "may result in the deaths of many of the captives".

They want a way out," said the negotiator, who has long experience of dealing directly with the Islamist group Boko Haram in previous hostage crises.

Aero Contractors Helicopter Mistakenly Lands On Enugu State Govt House, Seized

A helicopter bearing the markings of Aero Contractors which mistakenly landed at Governor’s lodge of Enugu Government House yesterday at around 10.30am has been seized. The pilot and the crew members of the helicopter were also detained at the government lodge for alleged security breach.

The crew members upon interrogation said the helicopter mistook the Government House for the State House of Assembly complex from where they were meant to convey the corpse of a deceased member of old Anambra State House of Assembly, Sir Andrew Umeoji.

57 Year Old Vice Principal Arrested for Allegedly Raping 12 Year Old Student in Ekiti

Ekiti State police authorities have arrested a 57-year-old vice-principal of St. Mary Girls College, Ekiti, Ayo Ajayi, for allegedly raping a 12-year-old female student.

The student was summoned to the vice-principal’s office, and remained there for an inordinate amount of time. This fueled some teachers’ suspicions that something was not right.

One of the teachers attempted to open the door of the office but discovered that it was locked from the inside. After a long period of time, the VP and the student eventually emerged, and displayed an awkward demeanour.  It was at this point that some teachers alerted the police.

A statement released by the police confirms the incident, stating:

“Investigation revealed that the suspect had a similar case in the past which was not reported. The victim also admitted that the suspect laid her on his table and had carnal knowledge of her…

“The report of the medical examination confirmed that the victim’s hymen was not intact. Although, the suspect denied the allegation, but with the evidence against him, he will soon be arraigned in court for defilement.”

This incident occurred on March 18th, 2014.

Identities of Nyanya-Abuja Bombers To Be Establish By Forensic Experts

 The identities of some of the terrorists who conducted the Nyanya-Abuja bus garage bombing that claimed over 70 lives, have been established by forensic experts.

Three of the  bombers’ identities have been revealed – two that died during the bombing, and a third one that escaped just prior to the explosion.

“Through the assistance of experts,  we now know those who carried out the attack. Although two of them are dead, we are on the trail of the one who is  alive,” said a security source.

Revelations will be made about the progress of the investigations and the identities of the bombers “at the appropriate time,” Punch reports.

But for God’s intervention and neighbours help. A mobile Police officer who lives in Ketu would have succeeded in using his neighbour’s 8-year old daughter for rituals. UK, US Join Search For Abducted Schoolgirls In Borno State

According to a report by Punch, the UK and US government have joined the search for the 234 abducted schoolgirls from the Government Girls Secondary School, Chibok, by Boko Haram men.

On Friday April 25th, the British Foreign Secretary, William Hague, said the UK had begun talks with Nigeria over the incident. (Some mothers of the abducted school girls pictured above)

"The appalling abduction in northern Nigeria on April 14 is a stark reminder of the threat of sexual violence faced by women in conflict prone areas. I am very concerned that the majority of the girls are still missing. I spoke to Nigerian Foreign Minister, Wali, about this case on 18 April, and we are talking to Nigerian authorities about how best to assist in their efforts to secure the girls’ release and bring those responsible to justice.” Hague said.

Hijack Fears Force A Virgin Australia Plane to Land In Bali Island

 A Virgin Australia plane (pictured above after it landed in Bali) was forced to land on the island of  Bali over fears of a possible hijack. Initially reports said the plane, which was flying from Australia and carrying 150 passengers, was being hijacked, but it was later found to be an aggressive drunk passenger who was trying to force his way into the cockpit.

The pilot sent a distress signal to airport authorities and the plane was cleared to land in Bali so the situation could be dealt with. BBC reports that immediately the plane landed, the drunk passenger, who had been overpowered by the crew and handcuffed him, was arrested at the airport. There was a drunk passenger, intoxicated and aggressively behaved. He was trying to enter the cockpit, banging the door but he did not enter the cockpit.

Virgin Australia told ABC News that there has been a medical emergency aboard the plane but everything had been settled though the aircraft still remains on the tarmac at Bali’s Denpasar airport.

National Conference Chairperson Sacked

 The National Conference committee on Civil Society, Labour and Sports, one of the ten committees at the on-going conference in Abuja, has sacked its chairperson, Bola Ogunrimade for absenteeism and has been replaced with her deputy, Issa Aremu.  

The decision was carried out after a vote took place and majority of them voted her out. Mr Issa Aremu also told reporters that, Mrs Bola Ogunrinde has never showed up ever since the conference kicked off.

A HIV Positive Man Gets Death Penalty For Raping Girl

 A Sharia Court in Kano yesterday ruled that a 63-year-old man, Ubale Saidu, who raped a 10-year old girl and infected her with Human Immunodeficiency Virus, HIV will be stoned to death.

The State Commissioner for Justice confirmed the incident but however said, under the law the convict has one month to appeal the sentence.

Ritual Killer Disguised As A Mad Man Uncovererd In Benin

The people of Upper Sokponba in Benin where a ‘mad man’ lived for almost two years were shocked when they discovered that the man who they thought was mad, was not actually mad but a murderer.  Upon his arrest, a gun, different human parts and a sum of N4m was found on him.  Residents of the area claims the man lived in a make-shift apartment and usually takes his bath outside naked and they never suspected he was a ritual killer.

50 Killed As Gunmen Ransack Taraba Village

Unknown gunmen on monday, struck residents of Gidan Aku community on the outskirts Wukari Local Government Area of Taraba State killing no fewer than 50 people with many seriously injured.

According to reports, the men who stormed the area with sophisticated weapons allegedly came in from Nassarawa state and attacked the residents while they were sleeping. They set the whole place on fire forcing residents to flee into nearby bushes for safety.

An eyewitness and also a lawyer in the community, Luka Agbu said no security officer came to their rescue during the attack

"The attackers were very hostile to us and did not spare even children or the aged. The attackers shot at people and burnt houses at the same time without any intervention by the security forces. We are helpless here and we plead with the Federal Government to deploy special troops to rescue us from this unfortunate and deadly attacks. Our people are being killed by gunmen, we are losing property on a daily basis. What kind of a country is this?” Agbu said

Robbers On Rampage In Lagos Raid 8 Streets, Rape, Destroy 30 Cars In 7-hr

According to a report by Punch, armed robbers numbering about 60 stormed 8 different streets in the Mushin area of Lagos in the early hours of Monday morning and operated unchallenged for about 7 hours. A mosque on Coker Lane was not spared as the worshippers, who slept in the mosque after a vigil, were robbed by the hoodlums.

26 Years Old Nigerian Student Found Dead In Bangladeshi Lake

A 26year old Nigerian student, Tahir Manni Adam, studying at the Islamic University of Technology, Gazipur, Bangladesh has been found dead inside the lake in the school.

 

According to reports from a local newspaper in Bangladeshi, Dhaka Tribune, Adam, a third year student of Computer Science had gone to the lake to have a bath but unfortunately drowned. According to police reports, his body was recovered from the lake around 10.45pm on Saturday, April 19th and was declared dead on arrival at the Tongi Government Hospital. His body was later taken to Dhaka’s Samorita Hospital.

 

Registrar of the school, Ahsan Habib while confirming the incident said an inquiry has been ordered by the school on the incident and a case has been filed with a police station in Bangladesh.

Manchester United manager David Moyes has been sacked, only 10 months after succeeding Sir Alex Ferguson last July. David Moyes's short and disastrous reign at Old Trafford came to an abrupt end on Tuesday when Manchester United announced he was leaving the club following a hugely disappointing short term spell at the club.

Announcing his departure in a brief statement, shortly after staff arrived for work at the Carrington training ground, United thanked the Scot for "the hard work, honesty and integrity he brought to the role".

Moyes, who turns 51 on Friday, was appointed on the recommendation of fellow-Scot Ferguson, who retired at the end of last season after 26 years in the job.

12 & 13 Year Old Parents Welcome Daughter In Britain

A 12 & 13 year old children are now  Britain's youngest parents.This is sad to see. Children having a child. A British school girl who has not been named welcomed a daughter with her 13 year old boyfriend. (New parents pictured above with their son).

The schoolgirl got pregnant when she was only 11 years old and still in primary school by a boy who was only 12. The children said they 'were in love' and had been dating for a year when they found out she was pregnant. They met over Christmas 2012 in a park when she was 10 and he was 11 going on 12. The children welcomed a healthy daughter on Sunday April 13th 2014.  

At 12 years and three months, she is five months younger than the previous youngest UK mother, Tressa Middleton, who gave birth at age 13. 

Her mum who is only 27 is now Britain's youngest grandmother. The new mum has a 3 year old sister and 9 year old brother and her grandmother who is 56 is now a great grandmother. Continue...

Former Chelsea striker, Didier Drogba has launched his own men's underwear line. The 36 year old football star shared a pic of himself modeling shorts from the line. Hmmm...#betterthingz.

 

He  teamed up with Marseille-based designers HOM last year to create the exclusive range of men's underwear and beachwear which will start selling from May 1.

Nigerian Caught In India With Heroin Concealed In Ladies Shoes

A Nigerian man, Ozioma Kenneth Odeomenan has been arrested in New Delhi India with 330g of heroin worth $120,000 concealed in ladies shoes he was to export to America. 

 

According to India police report, Ozioma was arrested after an anonymous tip-off they got on the 14th of April that a Nigerian man carrying hard drugs was coming to the Janakpuri metro station. A team of police officers laid a trap and apprehended Ozioma, who was found with 330 grams of heroin cleverly concealed in the specially made cavities in the soles of women’s sandals.

 

The Nigerian later confessed he was heading to Mahipalpur to courier the drugs to the US.

 

India Times reports that Ozioma who had his education in South Africa relocated to India in 2009 and ventured into the business of exporting shoes to Nigeria for sale. The business did not yield the returns he expected and so he abandoned it and was introduced to drug trafficking business by another Nigerian identified as Ike

18 Year Old Sex-Worker Raped And Killed By Gangsters In Lagos

 Police have apprehended two gangsters for allegedly raping and killing an 18-year-old commercial sex worker, Oluwatosin Ami.The suspects, John-Paul Chukwuebuka, 19; and Ebuka Chimudi, 22; belonged to a gang which specialised in luring young ladies to hotels with the aim of dispossessing them of their belongings and raping them.

According to police authorities, on April 10, 2013, two members of the gang posed as customers and visited the Happy Day Hotel, Orile.Oluwatosin was approached by the suspects and she took them into her room at the hotel which she secured at the cost of N3, 500 per day.The suspects were said to have overpowered Oluwatosin and stuffed a cloth in her mouth to prevent her from screaming.

She was also bound by the hands, while the suspects took turns in raping her.Afterwards, the suspects were said to have stolen her phone and money before locking her inside the room.The suspects were also said to have taken the key of the room and tossed it into a canal.

PHOTOS: Hundreds Missing After South Korean Ship Sank

293 people, mostly students who were on a high school trip, are missing after a ferry capsized & sank in dense fog off South Korea's coast last night, local media reports.

A South Korean government spokesman told reporters this morning that there had been 459 people on board the ferry, including 325 students, 15 teachers, 89 other passengers and a crew of 30.

So far 164 people have been rescued, three confirmed dead, while hundreds are still unaccounted for. One rescued passenger told The Associated Press he believed that many people had been trapped inside the ship when it sank.

The ferry had been traveling to the southern tourist island of Jeju when it sank just three hours from it's destination. The distress call was made around 8p.m last night, 11 hours into the trip. Continue...

19 Year Old Pakistani Caught With N228m Worth Of Heroin At MMIA

A 19 year old Pakistani student named Iftikihar Muhammed Arslan, (pictured above) has been arrested by officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency(NDLEA) for possession and attempted smuggling of 25.400kg of heroin said to be worth N228m into Nigeria, Vanguard reports

Arslan was apprehended at the Muritala Mohammed International Airport during inward screening on passengers on board a Qatar Airways flight. 25 parcels containing the hard drugs were discovered in his luggage.

 

The suspect believed to be in a drug cartel through his passport showed that he left Lahore, Pakistan with the drugs to Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, then Doha, in Qatar, from where he connected to Lagos. Continue...

Bomb Scare At National Assembly As Lawmakers, Workers, Flee Scene

There was a bomb scare this afternoon at the National Assembly, which had lawmakers, Assembly staff, and bank workers in the premises all closing abruptly and hurriedly leaving the premises.

The bomb scare which happened at about 2pm today according to reports, started when security operatives attached to the National Assembly acted on complains by some legislative aides and workers about some suspicious movement by some individuals with questionable character in the premises. The security men immediately drafted men of the Police and Nigeria Civil Defence Corp to the entrance of the complex. This action fueled fears of a possible attack. Continue...

Reports say people in the building immediately started locking up their offices and ran out of the building. Bank workers also immediately closed their bank.

However, Mr. Ibrahim Ndakothe, the Sergeant-in-Arm of the National Assembly denied that this incident happened, claiming it was just a rumor.

“There is nothing like bomb scare, it is just a rumour. Those banks chose to close because we have assured them that there is nothing like that. It’s just mere rumour".

TRAGIC NEWS: Scores killed as Bomb Goes off at Nyanya, Abuja

What a tragedy! It is with deep sadness that we report the news just reaching us from the Federal Capital Territory. Two blasts at Nyanya Motor Park on the outskirts of Abuja this morning April 14th has killed several people with many injured.

The blast occurred at the crowded bus station around 6.30am today during rush hour as commuters were about to board buses and taxis to go to work in central Abuja. Two buses full of people were struck. It is believed that one of the buses, which was parked overnight at the motor park, was loaded with the bomb that went off this morning. The explosion occurred in a section of Nyanya park allocated to luxury buses. An eyewitness said he saw at least 50 bodies being removed from the scene..

"This morning there was an explosion at the Nyanya Motor Park," Manzo Ezekiel of the National Emergency Management Agency said. "Rescue teams are on the ground"

Adesanmoye Kehinde, a senior official of the Nigerian Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) Ikotun Lagos branch, has been arrested and dragged before the Ejigbo Magistrate Court in Lagos for allegedly setting his lover, Janet, 31, ablaze after she called off their relationship.

 

Kehinde, 43, who is married with three children, had been dating Delta state born Janet for a while and was planning marry her. Janet however decided to call the affair off because she felt Kehinde was too troublesome. Continue...
